Designing the Caramelized Kitchen

If you’ve been around here for more than a minute, you will not be surprised that immediately upon securing our dreamy new home, my complete attention turned toward one room: the kitchen.

My interior designer Ann Parker of Parker Design Studio brilliantly addressed spatial opportunities to almost double the size of our kitchen. A reconfiguration of cabinetry, plumbing and newfound space offered the chance to readdress appliances, finishes, and fixtures. Ann took me to the Cordova location of Ferguson, where Daniel guided us through our options with grace (considering an immense industry-wide supply chain challenge!).

We enthusiastically went with GE Monogram, a luxury line with sleek, elegant finishes, clean lines, and a beautiful mixed-metal look. The gold knobs of the range inspired our gold kitchen faucet and hardware, offering a sophisticated look and a warmth I can’t wait to incorporate through the remaining finishes.

Daniel and the Ferguson team walked us through the showroom, and I felt right at home in the kitchen vignettes. While manufacturing and shipping delays are absolutely the norm and at no fault of Ferguson, we did make some selections based on availability. Fingers crossed the fridge and range get here soon — we are so lucky to have original appliances on hand to plug in and keep us afloat once we officially move in!

Here’s a sneak peek at our cabinet color, countertop, and backsplash. I couldn’t be more excited to put it all together!
