Refreshing Our Guest Room for the Holidays

When my home decor priorities were mapped out over these past three years, our upstairs guest bedroom was admittedly the afterthought. We used its closet for extra off-season storage, packed away luggage and other loose items, recycled a standard Restoration Hardware duvet from my college senior year. Nonetheless, it was time for a change, and the approaching holiday season provided the perfect opportunity to rethink the space. As our friends and family travel to Memphis from near and far, our guest bedroom has been more exposed than ever before!

This past summer, Bella Vita’s bedding display caught my eye in-store, so I embarked on a bed-building appointment with their team to pick the perfect palette for our room.

Bella Vita’s Bella Notte bedding is a total dream; its lush fabrics and layers beckon a beautiful rest and stay for our houseguests. Alex and I joke that we’re considering moving into this room instead?

Because of its custom production, a 6-8-week turnaround time is the norm. Therefore, if you have a Christmas deadline, picking out your Bella Notte bedding is a must before mid-October! Call, visit or shop online before the 15th for yours — and scroll for inspiration from mine!

The centerpiece of our guest bed is a feminine Olivia embellished pillowcase bolster in eucalyptus. I layered mine over a winter white linen pillowcase for an extra pop of contrast. I can’t get over the sweet look of the ties on each end of the bolster!

A Josephine duvet in fog cloaks the bottom of the bed, kissing the edge of an antique bench with dried lavender buds. I opted for a fog-colored linen bedskirt to match. The neutral tone ties in our handmade raw wood headboard and will prove timeless for years and years!

The set of Marsaille velvet shams in fog are so elegant and rich! I especially love the embroidered diamond detail, almost resembling olive leaves or branches. Then, a duo of linen whisper pillowcases in winter white bring a bright crisp-ness to the mix. The ruffle is understated yet such a sweet touch!

Side note: If you’re thinking this looks high maintenance, get this — Bella Notte linens are machine washable on the gentle setting! In fact, the more you wash, the softer they become. Don’t hesitate; Bella Vita owner Stephanie Singley swears by the method!

To add clean lines and structure to the bed, a winter white Adele coverlet offers a raw yet flourished tone-on-tone pattern with silk velvet edging.

And to top it all off, the Bella Note Valentina wedding blanket cascades over the end of our bed, begging for a cold night to cuddle up and enjoy a cup of hot tea! I especially loved selecting the eucalyptus hue to bring in a subtle earthy and transitional color to a very neutral home.

So, who’s ready to move in?
